Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400ºF/200ºC. Line a baking sheet with non stick (parchment) baking paper.

  2. Wash figs, cut off stem and slice each fig lengthwise into 6 slices

  3. Cut 5in/13cm circles out of the puff pastry. Mark (but don't cut all the way through) a 4in/10cm circle within each. (Use a small saucer or little pie pan as a guide to cut pastry rounds - measurement doesn't have to be exact, just what you can fit on the puff pastry sheet.)

  4. Brush melted butter over each circle of pastry.

  5. Within the inner circle, sprinkle and spread 1/2 teaspoon sugar and 1 teaspoon ground almonds onto each pastry round. Then arrange fig slices overlapping on the pastry, keeping with the inner circle.

Chef's Notes

Tips for success

Be sure to have the oven preheated and hot because puff pastry needs that heat to gain lots of rise.
Defrost the puff pastry but keep it cool to make it easier to work with.
Don’t cover all the pastry with figs and filling – keep a pastry border around the edge.
Use a small saucer or little pie pan as a guide to cut pastry rounds.

How long do these Fig Tartlets keep?
These tartlets are best just out of the oven or at least the day of baking.
How do I store and reheat these tartlets?
While the tartlets won’t be at their best, store pastries at cool room temperature or covered in the refrigerator. Reheat in a hot oven for 3-5 minutes until just warmed through.
The nutritional information provided is for one fig tartlet and is an estimate only. It doesn’t include any thing served with the tartlet.
