  1. Preheat the oven to 200C (180C fan-assisted).

  2. Put the margarine, vanilla, spice and syrup in a microwave-safe mixing bowl.

  3. Heat in the microwave in 15 second bursts, stirring each time until everything has melted together.

  4. Add the oats and stir them through until evenly coated.

  5. Add an egg and mix well, aiming to distribute the egg throughout the mixture.
