  1. Add apples, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt to a medium sauce pan set to medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally until apples are tender but not mushy. Turn off heat and let cool.

  2. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a 9X5 inch loaf pan with cooking spray.

Cindy, I would not use apple pie filling as it is loaded with sugar, I like to control the amount - plus there are loads of preservatives - but that's me. I love this recipe as is. Great job Donya!!!
