  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt.

  3. In a large bowl, beat together the butter and sugar with an electric mixer, until combined. Add in the egg and vanilla. Add flour mixture; beat until combined. Cover and chill for 1 hour.

  4. Form tablespoon sized balls of dough and place on baking sheets 2 inches apart; flatten just slightly with the back of a spatula.

  5. Bake for 11-12 minutes, rotating sheets halfway through. Allow cookies to rest on baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
