  1. In a small bowl, stir together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

  2. In a medium bowl, cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, 30 seconds to 1 minute. Whisk in egg yolk, milk, and vanilla. Stir in flour mixture until just combined. Fold in M&Ms or chocolate chips.

  3. Cover and chill dough for at least 1 hour, up to 24.

Chef's Notes

*You want your butter to be very soft but not melted. If making in a cold kitchen during the winter, you can microwave your butter for *just* a couple of seconds to help it along.

I didn’t want the chocolate flavor so just replaced the cocoa powder with flour and I double the batch and they were soooo good. Some of my favorite cookies I’ve ever made. Thin and chewy!
