Ingredients

Instructions

  1.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine all ingredients, except for food coloring, in a large bowl and mix with an electric mixer until well combined.

  2. Divide cake batter evenly between six bowls. For each bowl add 1-2 drops of food coloring and mix. If more color is desired, add additional drops of food coloring until desired color is reached. Repeat with each bowl.

  3. Generously spray a standard sized Bundt cake pan with non-stick cooking spray.   Starting with the red batter, spoon cake batter into bottom of Bundt pan. The cake batter should go around the bottom of the pan in a complete circle.

Chef's Notes

NotesWhile this cake is shown in a classic rainbow, feel free to get creative and use any combination of colors that you like.
Using a white cake mix and white chocolate pudding mix will provide the best base for getting true colors in your cake. Vanilla cake mix and pudding mix can also be used, however they will give the batter a yellow tint. This isn't that big of deal, but something to be aware of.

Received all compliments on this cake . Did this for my daughters 14th birthday and all 14 middle schoolers loved it. My husband who doesn’t love cake but mostly icing went back for seconds and said that icing is perfect not overwhelming. Plus the cake was VERY moist.
I put each color batter in a plastic bag and snipped the corner and piped it in to make sure it was accurate. I might buy and extra batter mix next time just to make sure each layer covered the previous but it still looked amazing .
