I LOVE a good pantry recipe. Was a little nervous that my kiddo wouldn't like this but she devoured it!
Paul, I disagree, anchovies are great for pasta dishes. Depends what you put in your sauce that makes it and as an Italian chef this recipe is great!! Alas, I never add apple juice to my sauces and a dash of orange juice only if it’s a cold anchovies pasta salad! Mangia con passions, e beve il vino!
This pasta is awful. My tuna pasta absolutely blows this away and you don’t need anchovies. Yecch. My recipe uses: a great jar of tomato sauce. (rao or mezzetta or something comparable) Tuna in olive oil. Onions. Salt. Pepper. Garlic. Touch of curry. White wine. And a splash of orange juice or apple juice. Leave it overnight in the fridge toss it in oil with pasta the next day and you might never eat another pasta dish again. (Came from a friend in Italy when I was six, living in Italy where I spent most of my childhood). It’s ridiculous and SO easy to make. Why does ANYONE think anchovies make anything taste better? They don’t.
Made this tonight. Used black olives(about 10) instead of anchovies. A tea spoon of pepper paste and a tablespoon of tomato paste cooked in some olive oil then a tin of diced tomatoes.
Totally fixed my wife's hangry problem
I made a summer version of this with fresh garden tomatoes! The only difference was I added chopped tomatoes to the pan after the garlic/anchovy step and let them cook down for 8 minutes or so and omitted the marinara. All other ingredients were the same. It was delicious and I can't wait for the left overs! Definitely adding more than the 4 anchovies next time. Thank you for this recipe. I will explore more of your site! <3
