Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.

  2. Cut your slices of gluten free bread into 1-inch cubes (or bite sized pieces). Bread can be fresh from the package and does not have to be stale.

  3. Pour them into a large mixing bowl.

  4. In a small bowl, combine your spices and stir.

  5. Pour your olive oil and melted butter on top of the bread cubes.

  6. Sprinkle the spices onto the bread crumbs.

  7. Stir.

  8. Coat a baking sheet with non-stick spray.

  9. Place seasoned and coated bread cubes in a single layer on the baking sheet.

  10. Bake 18-20 minutes, depending on how crisp you like them.

  11. If you'd like the top more brown, broil for a few minutes, until your desired level of crunchiness is achieved.

Chef's Notes

If you need a gluten-free vegan crouton, use Little Northern Bakehouse with the dairy-free butter, or any other vegan bread of your choosing. For a top-8-free version, use Little Northern Bakehouse Bread with soy free Earth Balance buttery sticks. You'll notice in the video I pour the spices one at a time. I only did that so you could tell which spices I was using. I do recommend pouring them all into a small mixing bowl, stirring them together and then sprinkling on, so that everything gets coated more evenly.*Our allergies, while severe and that get re-tested frequently, are such that we can go strictly by what's on the label. I do not call companies to see what things are derived from, or call manufacturers to see about potential cross contact. If your allergies require you to do so, please do your own homework. I cannot assure you of any ingredient's safety, only you can do that. I simply share what works for our family**If you are going to feed this to someone with food allergies, and you yourself do not have food allergies, I HIGHLY recommend having them check every single brand and ingredient you are using, to ensure they're OK with each part of the recipe. And, to make sure you've talked to them about how to avoid cross contamination in your kitchen.Adapted from: Baked By Rachel's Homemade Garlic and Herb Croutons
