NotesThis cook time range works well for most lentil varieties, including brown, green, French green ("Puy"), and black beluga lentils. However, it does not work for red lentils, split red lentils, and yellow split lentils (i.e., lentils that are commonly used in Indian dal recipes).

Notes*This soup is quite thick and creamy, almost like a stew, so if you prefer a soupy texture, just add more vegetable broth or water. You can do that before pressure cooking when you add the vegetable broth, or after pressure cooking once you see the texture so you can add as much liquid as needed.

I made the Simple Lentils for meal prep for the week. Very flavorful and perfect texture. So good that I should have doubled the recipe. Very quick recipe so I’ll make more tomorrow.
Whole green lentils are not the same thing as French Green Lentils, which is what the recipe calls for. Whole green lentils do get mushy so if you want firm lentils, buy french green lentils in stead
I cooked green lentils for 6 minutes. I did triple the recipe because I wanted to batch prep the whole bag of lentils and freeze the extras. They were really tasty, but mine turned out extremely mushy—almost like a purée.
The spiced black beluga lentils recipe is so flavorful and comforting!! I tripled the recipe for a potluck tomorrow, but am eating a bowl before bed because it is just too good! Thank you for an easy delicious recipe!!
