I made this recipe for a graduation party and it was a hit. The only thing I did different was reduce the brown sugar by half. That is the only change. It was delicious. Thank you for the recipe. It is my first time making baked beans from scratch. I will definitely use this recipe again.

I am diabetic and I was wondering if there was a substitute for the brown sugar?

The product is good, the recipe is not. It says the total time, including prep, is 2hr 30min, however, the beans have to soak for 12 hr and the beans have to cook for 1hr. Plus the baking time and minus the soaking time (I understand why she wouldn't include soaking into prep, but I think it should at least be included in the total time so people can see the ACTUAL time), that's 3hr. The 3hr doesn't include prep. It also doesn't say to put a lid on the beans and only says to bring to a boil, in both cases, I had to put a lid on the beans and bring the beans to a rolling boil. Lastly, the recipe doesn't always include how intense you would want the flame to be.
